A Brief Background on our Marrakech Atelier, Up-Cycling Practices and Brand Evolution
In early 2019, we traveled to Marrakech with the intention to create the full vision for the brand. We could do this by expanding our handmade luxury products in addition to offering our signature kilim collections.
We searched through the historic Medina and around the outskirts of Marrakech to discover interesting deadstock textiles we could repurpose. We discovered deadstock blankets, jute, silk, upholstery fabric, rugs, among other textiles. We sourced post-industrial surplus leather from the food industry and other leftover fabrics from the fashion industry.
By October 2019, we opened our Marrakech atelier so we could create our products responsibly and sustainably, making only what we need and eliminating waste. We knew we needed to control our production means from start-to-finish, and built our production team to head our slow-fashion, up-cycling practices. We believe makers of well-made products deserve to make a fair profit & living wage.
Three years later, our atelier and production team continues to grow as we continue to expand our retail footprint and make more products available in-store and online. We believe the best is yet to come.
