New York, New York — Winter is coming. The ball is going to drop. 'Tis the season for nesting with a good read, sipping on hot cocoa and tea, braving the bad weather for that bucket of extra buttery popcorn (with or without a movie ticket), layering the outfits, and of course, for catching flights, not feelings.
But in New York, we are never hunkering all the way down for the not-so-favorable weather. We have things to do. We have places to go. We have people to see (unlike Angelenos, we actually like to hang out with our friends).
Whether you're taking a weekend getaway trip with a friend, coming home for the Holidays, or managing a single, solitary afternoon away from all others (*winning*), where else in the world can you have everything you want and need within a 10-minute walk or transit ride?
It's New York, or nowhere.
With arguably too many good options available, it can be difficult to narrow down plans for a great weekend getaway in New York City. But don't worry—we hear for you.
Read on for Res Ipsa's Winter Weekend Guide to New York. Our guide includes only the places you'll catch us wanting to shop, eat, watch, read, explore, and discover. The list ranges from the most wonderful winter markets to the quietest parks to the best book stores to the ultimate movie-going experience. Our list is made with love and full of joy...and absolutely soaked with a buttery, Holiday cheer. Enjoy!

Where to Shop
Clothing, Footwear, Accessories & Home Goods
Res Ipsa New York in Nolita (directions)
Our fully-stocked collections at Res Ipsa New York include our complete range of clothing, footwear, accessories, and home goods. We are open 11am-8pm daily.
Part of our origin story with our first product began right here in the city. Originally, we set out to become a neckwear brand, and we blamed Seinfeld, sort of, for inspiration to create the perfect ties at the Goldilocks width—3 inches wide. We handmade our ties in New York using the same tie maker who made Ralph Lauren's first tie in 1967.
