Paris, France — A rule of thumb has been that we open stores in places that we love. One place that we want to return to over and over is the City of Lights. So, there was no better place to open Res Ipsa's first EU location.
September 2023 marked an exciting milestone for Res Ipsa as we opened our tenth retail store, Res Ipsa Paris, on the iconic Boulevard Saint-Germain in Paris. This location expands our footprint to three continents: eight stores in the United States, plus our atelier and showroom in Marrakech, Morocco.
While Paris is always a good idea, it might be a little far for some of our customers to visit any time soon so we wanted to take you inside and discover it for yourself.
Inside Res Ipsa Paris
Located at 200 Boulevard Saint-Germain, our Paris store offers the full Res Ipsa experience with our unique collection of handmade products. Every piece embodies the craftsmanship, sustainability, and storytelling that Res Ipsa is known for—from our kilim loafers and clogs, to our workshirts, handknit sweaters, and repurposed vintage demin. Or as we like to say, global textiles with an American accent.
Customers are greeted with a few sights that would feel familar: two of our icon Hudson's Bay stag heads, a large vintage 48-star American flag, and a touch of Aspen--a hanging deer antler chandelier.
As you step inside, you can't miss our signature shoe wall to the left and vintage tables sourced from an old French train station. Each product speaks to our passion for travel—whether it’s a handmade silk kimono or a souvenir jacket inspired from our trips to Japan, or a kilim weekender bag.
The Vibrancy of Boulevard Saint-Germain
The Paris store is located in one of the most vibrant and historic parts of the city. Boulevard Saint-Germain is renowned for its Haussmannian architecture and the wealth of cultural and shopping experiences it offers.
Just steps away from Res Ipsa, you’ll find neighbors like the Ralph Lauren flagship store, Karl Lagerfeld, and Etro. Nearby, you can also explore famous destinations like Le Bon Marché, classic Parisian chocolatiers such as Patrick Roger, and Saint-Germain-des-Prés, a district steeped in literary history and frequented by famed authors like Sartre and Camus.
After browsing the shops, visitors can enjoy a coffee at one of the boulevard's legendary cafes, such as Les Deux Magots or Café de Flore, which have been cultural landmarks for decades.
History Meets Modern Elegance
Saint-Germain-des-Prés is a treasure trove of history. As you walk along the boulevard, you’ll be immersed in a blend of centuries-old monuments and vibrant modern life. The area’s proximity to the Musée d’Orsay and the Sorbonne University makes it a hub for art lovers and intellectuals alike. And don’t forget to take a detour to Rue de Buci, home to one of Paris' liveliest street markets, offering fresh produce and local delicacies.
Res Ipsa Paris is open 7 days a week, from 11am-7pm Monday to Saturday, and 11am-6pm on Sundays. We would love for your to visit and say hello on your next trip to Paris.
